Replacement Instruction for Liquefied Petroleum Gas Cylinders Intended for the Operation of Internal Combustion Engines (Forklifts, Motor Boats, etc.), which have been purchased at SIA Latvijas Propāna Gāze
General Provisions
1. These liquefied petroleum gas cylinders (hereinafter referred to as the cylinders) are not intended for the operation of household appliances and are marked with the truck symbol or a horizontal white stripe. They are used only in a horizontal position, as the cylinder has a special valve with a sealed pipe directed to a deeper point of the cylinder to ensure the supply of the gas liquid phase to the engine. The supplier provides the following types of cylinders: 46L =>19kg of gas; 27L=>11kg of gas; 25L=>10kg of gas
2. The user replaces the cylinders on his own in accordance with the requirements of this Instruction.
3. By moving the cylinder, it must be secured in order to avoid arbitrarily movement.
Gas Cylinder Replacement
1. Necessary tools, spare parts:
1.1. wrench of appropriate size;
1.2. liquid or soap emulsion filled in an aerosol container for the detection of gas leakage and a brush for applying the emulsion;
1.3. gasket (supplied with the gas cylinder).
2. Cylinder replacement procedure:
2.1. it is permitted to replace the cylinder in well-ventilated places where there is no fire or operating electrical equipment, by expelling all persons who do not directly participate in the cylinder replacement;
2.2. the cylinder replacement may be done after the engine cut-off.
3. Disconnection of the Cylinder:
3.1. to close the empty cylinder valves;
3.2. to disconnect the replaceable cylinder with a wrench;
3.3. to remove the cylinder holder which holds it in a stall position and to lift it off;
3.4. to screw on the valve nut on the disconnected cylinder.
4. Preparation of the New Cylinder (full):
4.1. to remove the valve protection foil, to inspect the cylinder valves, to unscrew the valve nut;
4.2. to check the tightness of the cylinder valve (places are marked with arrows) with the soap emulsion or gas analyzer in the closed position. The appearance of soap bubbles on the soaped surfaces indicates a gas leak and further use of the cylinder is prohibited.
5. Connection of a cylinder:
5.1. to place the cylinder in its intended place, taking into account that the valve thread which is attached to the fuel hose is placed downwards.
5.2. to fix the cylinder in its intended place, the cylinder must be located in a stall position.
5.3. to make sure that the burner of the gas appliance is closed.
5.4. to connect the fuel hose (with left thread) to the cylinder, taking into account that the replacement of the connection gasket is mandatory.
5.5. manually to open the cylinder valve by giving one turn to its disc. To check the connection of the unit and the cylinder valve with the soap emulsion or gas analyzer (places are marked with arrows).
5.6. The appearance of soap bubbles on the tested surfaces indicates a gas leak and further use of the cylinder is prohibited.
6. Safety Measures When Changing Cylinders:
6.1. operations with the balloon may only be performed in well-ventilated areas.
6.2. to ensure that no source of fire or spark is detected at the location of the gas cylinder.
6.3. the balloon replacement can be made by a person over 18 years of age. Only people who are directly involved in cylinder replacement should be in the area when changing the cylinder.
6.4. after cylinder replacement it is permitted to use it only after the connection of all equipment, as well as the inspection of the valve stem and the valve screw place with soap emulsion or gas analyzer in the open position of the cylinder valve (places are marked with arrows), if gas leakage is detected:
6.6.1. unconsolidated joints shall be removed immediately, followed by a repeated leakproofness test with a soap emulsion or a gas analyzer;
6.6.2. in case of a leak in the valve stem and valve cylinder, in the open valve position, and in case of leakage, it shall be closed immediately, the screw nut shall be should be screwed on and the cylinder should be taken out of the building, taking into account the direction of the wind so that the gas is not blown into other nearby buildings, basements, cavities, open fire sources, etc.
6.5. if it is difficult for the cylinder valve disc to turn (when opening or closing) it is prohibited to use such a cylinder.
ATTENTION!! It is forbidden to use hand tools to open or close the valve.
7. It is strictly forbidden to perform any repair works to the gas cylinder and valve. This can lead to accidents.
